Day 2 Beautiful nature

 Beautiful Nature

Our three year old cat Mia

Day 2 of our wildlife challenge and its been another glorious day here in Co. Down.
This may be our summer so we're enjoying every sunny day we get. We have called our home and garden Rose Cottage for a number of years now because as the name alludes we have quite a lot of roses growing around us and we love them.
We have lots of other plants too and plenty of wild plants in the mix but we also have hens and 3 cats. The cats follow us about the yard and garden to make sure we don't go near the road, they actually cry at us if we step on the side of the road. The three of them are enjoying lazing in the sun as you can see in the photos above and below.

Buttons (2 years old and the nosey one)

Cookie (2 years old and the Diva around here)

We all spent the afternoon outdoors and I stood on the grass barefoot, one of my favourite things. In the cool of the evening my son and I went to look for some wild mushrooms that are growing in one part of our garden. We've been trying to identify it but we're not too sure. What do you Think??

So from our research is this a Parasol Mushroom or is it a dangerous poisionous mushroom like the Death Cap. Another guess is a Suplhur Tuft.

We love flowers and in our garden today we accidently on purpose focused on purple / blue flowers. With the sun shining they looked majestic and the bees were still a buzzing and frantically collecting pollen. I studied the bees and could see a number of them with pollen on their legs.

The blue flowery shrub was salvaged from the local garden nursery compost pile a few years ago. It was just the wrong shape and hadnt sold well.
But just look at this amazing plant and it delights me to hear all the buzzing coming from it.

Its does tend to take over though and we have the plant growing in a few areas of the  garden.
Heres a few more photos of flowers from todays walk about.

Blue Poppy

A bath we recycled a few years ago with a mixture of flowers .

And to finish off this glorious day just as I was about to put this blog together my son who is still a bit reluctant to engage in the wild challenge starts screaming and shouting. Never saw hubby react so quickly thinking something was wrong but never fear it wasnt a catastrophe but a hot air balloon going directly over our house. What a great finish to an already beautiful day appreciating beautiful nature.

We waved madly at the baloon and got a wave back!

One happy boy with his Mummy (me)
